Sharon Wilde

Fairlawns Hotel, Aldridge
25 April 2015

Sharon married Chris, both accountants, at the Fairlawns hotel in Aldridge and it was an amazing morning. I was booked to do the wedding makeup of Sharon and her 2 bridesmaids following a recommendation from her best friend Emma (one of the bridesmaids) who I used to work with when I was a nurse.

Sharon and Emma stayed at the hotel over night and was joined by the other bridesmaid later on, so I went straight to the hotel to do the makeup

When I arrived Sharon was having breakfast so I got set up ready for when she came back.
I did the makeup of Emma who doesn't usually wear makeup so we went very subtle using mainly matte neutral colours from my MAC warm/neutral eyeshadow palette and black mascara. Emma's skin was in perfect condition and only needed slight evening out so I used MAC face and body foundation and powder to set. I contoured and highlighted using my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour palette and used Estée Lauder's pink kiss to lightly blush.

Sharon's bridesmaid dresses and colour scheme was a rich purple so I went a bit daring and added a subtle purple/pink lipstick to both bridesmaids. This was a perfect opportunity to catch up on the gossip of old work mates and reminisce. I also came to the conclusion that I'm getting old as when I first met Emma her daughter was a toddler and now she's in High school.

Sharon was getting itchy feet and wanted to see how the decoration progression was getting on downstairs so went for a walk. While Sharon was away I finished the makeup of Emma and so had a perfect 5 minutes for a cuppa tea (I'm a tea belly), until Emma said she'd offer me a cuppa but the kettle was broken. Because they had been drinking champagne and had tea with their breakfast they didn't think they'd need the room's kettle. Wrong! Haha. While she was explaining the story to me she lifted the lever up on the kettle and it started to boil. I heard laughter as the whole time they had been trying to flick the switch down. When Sharon returned with Michelle she found it hilarious.

I did the makeup of Michelle next who by her who by her own admission wasn't interested in makeup and was more hippie and chilled, so didn't want a lot of makeup. I used very minimal amounts of makeup too on Michelle but enough coverage to be naked to the eye but perfect for camera. She was brave enough as well and wore the bolder lip to go with the dress. While I was doing the makeup of Michelle, Kelly Louise Smith  from TMB Hair arrived to style Sharon's hair into a stylish up-do.

The flowers arrived from Sorella Events. Kerry, the florist, did an amazing job with purple throat calla lilies for the button holes and corsages. The other flowers were a mix of purple throat calla lilies, Pink roses, lilac flowers, freesias and foliage. They were beautiful.

When Kelly finished I started the makeup of Sharon, and as with the bridesmaids, Sharon wore very minimal makeup so kept it to a minimum. I used MAC's gingersnap to the lid and added a lovely Makeup Geek pigment over Sharon's eyes to really brighten and open them up. In the waterline I used a nude eyeliner, curled and curled her lashes then added mascara. Sharon was also blessed with nice skin but needed evening out so I used my MAC Face and Body foundation, Sculpt powder and The Balms Mary lou-manizer to highlight and Motives blusher in Lust.

For Sharon's lips I lined them using No 7 Nude lip pencil, filled in with Motives lipstick in Natural and finished again with No 7 lip-glossThen no face would be finished without a spritz of Urban Decays All Nighter setting spray.

Everyone's hair and makeup was finished in good time as the photographers Vanessa and Vaughan from Cherished Wedding photography arrived so everyone got their dresses on. Sharon looked so elegantly beautiful in her Eternal Bride dress she purchased from the Francesca Bridal Wear, she had such a beautiful figure which she'd worked hard on. Both Sharon and Kelly, the hair dresser go to the same gym and that was a topic of conversation during the morning. The bridesmaids Emma and Michelle wore an elegant purple dress also from Francesca Bridal Wear..

The time came for everyone to go downstairs and we were escorted down by the young hotel manager. Sharon became extremely nervous and was trying to calm down with slow breathing.

I tried to beat Sharon downstairs so I could get some photos of her coming down the stairs but I was too slow and full of luggage.
I waited for Sharon to have her pre wedding interview and wished her good luck before sneaking off into the Wedding Breakfast room to have a look at her cake and room decor, of course taking some photos. It's also becoming a bit of a routine that I have a diet coke before I go haha.

The room looked beautiful which was also decorated by Sorella events (chair covers, table swags and centre pieces). There were a lot of homemade items such as the Fingerprint tree which was such an amazing idea. And for wedding favours they had Love Hearts personalised with ‘Mr & Mrs Cole would like to thank you for sharing their special day – 25th April 2015'. For the evening they had a Sweet table which again was home made using vintage sweet jars. Yellow bellies, cherry bon bons, foam bananas, heart throbs, flying saucers, marsh mallows and jelly beans.
The wedding cake was made by Yvonne Emmerson from Occasion Cakes and made up of cupcakes with purple butterflies and one larger top tier cake with purple ribbon and Elvish writing which says "One ring to bind us all" which is a Lord of the rings quote.

Following the wedding Sharon and Chris are going to Mexico and leaving me here loudly crying face. I wish them both a very happy marriage and look forward to the wedding and honeymoon photos.
