Emma Coley

Moxhall Hall, Sutton Coldfield 18 April 2015

The Bride and Groom

I was booked for Emma's wedding last year and only seems like yesterday I did her trial. She had her trial the day of her works Christmas party so thought she would  kill two birds with one stone.

Emma is marrying Chris at Moxhall Hall in Sutton Coldfield which is a beautiful Victorian mansion, set in 8 acres of landscaped gardens and oozes original grandeur alongside modern, contemporary design.

Moxhall Hall

Emma met Chris through a friend at work and got engaged after Emma had been traveling America for 2 months. Chris proposed in the car on the way home from the airport after picking her up.

On the morning of the wedding I arrived bright and early at Emma's parent’s house. Emma answered the door and was mega chilled.  She took me into the conservatory where the light and space was the best. She was almost finished having her hair put up by her friend Stacey Hunt so I got myself all set up.

We were joined in the morning by Emma's cousins who were also two of her  bridesmaids. They had big rollers in that they'd had in overnight ready for this morning. They too were having their hair done by Stacey.

Emma had 5 bridesmaids all together, her 3 cousins and two best friends.
Emma loved her makeup in general and we decided on a glamorous smokey eyed look with lashes.

I prepped Emma's face and primed with Benefits Porefessional, then made a start on her eyes. I used simple natural shades from MAC and Urban Decay, then used my Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner to the top of her eyelid. I smoked out the same shade of colours underneath her eye then again lined her lash line but using my pencil liner from Estée Lauder. Emma wanted me to apply her own favourite lashes which just finished off her eye look.

The foundation I used was Estee Lauders doublewear and Emma wanted a contoured face so I used my Mehron Cream foundation in a darker colour to contour and a lighter colour to highlight. Then I applied my favorite Estee Lauder blusher, and Mac lipstick in the colour Angel.

Just as I was finishing off, the rest of Emma's bridesmaids arrived from the hair dressers and went straight off upstairs to get ready. Emma and the bridesmaids were going to get her dress on at Moxhall so I asked if I could have a sneak peak of her dress. Emma bought her dress from The Wedding House in Walsall.  She took me upstairs to where the dress was and I wasn't disappointed. It was beautiful, and luckily for me Emma had booked one of the best photographers in the business David Wadley so I know I will see some spectacular photos of the dress and wedding in general. The bridesmaid dresses also looked amazing in a soft pink colour which was the colour theme of the wedding.

Emma's bouquet was handmade using artificial flowers by the talented flower ladies at the Hollybush Garden Centre

It was lovely meeting Emma and I loved seeing the photos appear on Facebook during the day. Especially the outside photos and the photo of Emma and Chris cutting the cake. They had a 4 tired cake from Imperial cake in Willenhall. I'm Looking forward to seeing David's now.

Thankyou for booking me Emma.

Olivia Hunt

 The Moat House, Acton Trussell

17 April 2015

I arrived at Olivia's hotel room to five excited children bouncing up and down on the bed. Olivia was quite chilled I think until me and Gemma from Dream Bridal Hair turned up. I then bribed the children that if they behaved I would let them have a bit of my princess lip gloss with extra sparkles, to which they all sat down. But excited children can't sit still for too long, especially when there's a wedding happening. Olivia's friend was in the room helping whilst Olivia's mom was at the hair dressers and decided it was probably best she took the kids off for a while to give Olivia peace and quiet.

The wedding was at the privately owned Moat House which has been one of Staffordshire’s most popular wedding venues for the last 25 years. Located alongside the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal in the picturesque village of Acton Trussell, the venue is set in stunning grounds and surrounded by tranquil waters. The moat house is certainly one of my favourite venues because I had my wedding reception there 8 years ago.

Gemma and myself were all set up and ready to make a start on Olivia's hair and makeup. Olivia decided she wanted a dramatic glamorous look as she never wears makeup and wanted something different.

I prepped and primed the face first then as always did her eyes.
I used MAC's paint pot in "soft Ochre" then Urban Decay's Naked eye shadow palette. I smoked the eye shadows out then used Bobbi Browns gel eyeliner to give a dramatic wing, mascara applied then lashings of lashes.

Wedding Makeup Cannock

Olivia's finished makeup

This was the point that Cris Lowis the photographer arrived and made a start taking his fantastic photos.
Olivia had amazing bone structure so we complimented it with a Kim Kardashion contoured look which Olivia loved. I did this by using 3 different coloured Illamasqua's skin base foundations. The makeup was set with my Anastasia Beverly Hills contour kit and blushed out using MAC's rosy outlook. Then I used one of my favourite MAC lipsticks and set all makeup with my Urban Decay Setting spray

It was getting closer now till the ceremony and Olivia was beginning to panic. This is the normal with most weddings when the last hour is near. I helped move the wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses and shoes into the bridal suite as there was a lot more room for everybody to get dressed.

Olivia had 3 bridesmaids who were her 3 children Scarlett, Isla and Rosie. And their dresses were white like their moms.

The colour theme of the wedding was plum purple and this was incorporated into their gorgeous headband halos and corsages that were from VaVa Blooms. The flowers for the main bouquets arrived perfectly safe and secure from Lavender Florist, Penkridge and were made up of white and purple roses, purple lilies and green foliage.

While Olivia was getting dressed in the main bedroom of the bridal suite, Gemma and myself started to get the bridesmaids dressed. At this point the Registrars arrived and everyone went into panic mode lol although there was plenty of time.

I overheard the gentleman Registrar and Olivia's dad talking about the building trade and farming to which they were having a good chat about and I was talking to the lady registrar about my blogs and how much I've come to love writing them from practically laughing at someone even suggesting to me to write one. I'm having to learn to get with the times.

Olivia opened the door and looked amazing! Totally amazing. She looked as if she'd just finished a photo shoot for vogue. Olivia's dress was designed by Mori lee and purchased from Princess Brides, Stafford. The sound of the cameras were what I noticed next, everyone wanted a photo, including me who then started to snap away. I was quite proud of myself for getting this nice shot of the bride looking at herself in the mirror, I was even more so when Cris said that's a good shot and took one himself.

Olivia and her dad then started to have the pre wedding interview by the registrars to which Olivia had her back to me and thank god she did as I noticed her buttons to the back of her dress were not fastened. I sprinted back to the first hotel room to get my loom band hook to pull the elastic hoop over the button. Phew www!

The bridal party was then all ready to go. I could see the nerves and excitement in Olivia and so I wished her all the best. They gave the Registrars a couple of minutes to get downstairs before they left themselves.

Gemma and I then left with big smiles on our faces like proud parents and went back to the room to pack up.
Before we left I noticed the wedding breakfast seating plan so thought I'd have a sneak peak and take a photo which was absolutely beautiful and very elegant. There was also a lovely white postbox and guest comment book on another table. Everything was so well thought out.

The room was decorated by the team the Moat House and Design Elegance provided the postbox with the wedding cake made by Decorative Cakes by Donna

I think Olivia did an amazing job of organising the wedding in just a year and two weeks, a lot of detail must of gone into the planning of it.

I'd like to thank Olivia for booking me and I wish you and John every bit of happiness. Hopefully I've made another friend for life.

Why you need Motives!

Why you need Motives

Makeup Artists/Salon owners/Freelance MUAs & Freelance Hair & Beauty business owners can use Motives Cosmetics to massively increase sales & income.

MUAs & beauty professionals have a fantastic opportunity to increase income with Motives.

As a beauty professional, freelance makeup artist & beauty business owner I am very passionate abut my work.Taking time to make women look and feel beautiful can be very time consuming, especially with certain treatments. Travelling to and from the place of work, then reaching the destination to complete the treatment(s) can result in long days. Whilst pay is reasonable for doing a job that I absolutely love, it’s not brilliant.

One question I always get from clients is, where can I buy this product?
Prime example, a bride who has a trial for makeup for the big day wants to know what I am using and where she can get it from. My only choice in the past has been to point them in the direction of our typical department stores. Not only was I doing all the hard work with trials, wedding days and travel, but also selling cosmetics for other people and getting no benefit. Along with selling their products for them I was also buying makeup and adding to my own collection(which as you know can amount to a small fortune when buying top quality products).

So, what could I do to benefit not just myself but my clients as well?
If I was to stock these cosmetics or give my clients access to a website where they could purchase these products, not only would it save my clients time and hassle but also money. I too would benefit as I would buy these products from myself and not my competition.
Here I give you the Motives business plan Vs a normal business plan.

Normal business plan
  1. you charge an hourly rate.
  2. you have no products of your own to sell
  3. you have the cost of petrol (which will lower the hourly rate you get)

Motives business plan

  1. Product sale
  • you sell make up there and then.
  • you get retail profit which means you get a new customer.
  • you register these people as preferred customers to buy from your website which can lead to future purchases.

2.  Product sale from previous customers
  • you separate time from money.
  • customers can order from your website 24/7 (even while you are sleeping).

 3. Motives expanding
  • you can be a motives trainer and you charge a training fee to train people. You give an introduction to Motives, product knowledge, skincare & business building.
  • another option is you can train trainers.

 4. Motives Unfranchise
  • you have a motives website, a shop.com website, a global shop.com website and access to a back office where you can place orders, keep track on commissions, access to downloadable material etc to help you with your business.
  • you buy product at wholesale cost, not just Motives cosmetics but also Isotonix (powder form vitamins), skincare and more. This is the equivalent to having a Bookers or a Costco card which you can only have as a business owner. By using the wholesale facility you save on purchases you would normally buy at retail price.
  • When you buy these products you not only get them at wholesale price but you also get your points that go towards your commissions, which you also get whenever a customer makes a purchase (different amount of commission points are assigned to different products)

  • 5. Host parties in person, online or both
  • you run parties, this gives you additional income along with points towards your commissions.
 6. Team building
  • on top of all this, you can build a team. This also gives you the opportunity to earn income and commissions

The possibilities from owning an Unfranchise business are absolutely fantastic. What we have here is an amazing company with an amazing product range. Our product broker concept means that our products are of the highest quality and you will not find anywhere better on the market but also we allow people to shop on and offline.
I want to help people and show them either how to start their own business and earn a residual income or, for those who are already in business, how to improve and increase their income.

Marie Wheelwright

Marie the bride

What a beautiful day for a wedding, the sun was shining without a cloud in the sky and that was at 9.30 am when I arrived at the Oak Farm Hotel in Cannock to do the wedding makeup of Marie who was getting wed to John.

Oak Farm Hotel, formerly an 18th century working farm, is set in its own gardens overlooking Cannock Chase providing a perfect outdoor setting for those special photographs.

The Oak Farm
As I was on my way to the hotel room where Marie was I had a sneak  peak at the reception room. The door was locked so could only see through the glass door, but it looked beautiful. The colour theme was Cadbury purple with little touches of Disney throughout. My aim was to make sure I had a good look in the room before the wedding guests arrived as I'm a very keen slightly obsessed Disney fan.

Marie was very relaxed and chilled when I arrived. She said she slept well the night before and was looking forward to the day. Her stressful day was the day before last when she couldn't sleep or settle.

Marie wanted a glam look for her wedding day as she normally wears very little makeup anyway so wanted something that would stand out. Marie's eyes were beautiful so we focused the glam on them. I used Makeup geek and Motives eyeshadows with Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner and lashings of my favorite Mascara. The weather was very muggy so it was important the foundation would sustain the heat and stress of the day. I used No7's colour calming primer then Estée Lauder double wear mixed with MAC's Face and Body Foundation then that was set by my Anastasia Beverly Hills powders and MAC's Mineralize powder. The whole look was then set with Urban Decays Setting Spray

Marie's photographer Tina from the Chase Photo Studio arrived, the amazing and very talented Gemma from Dream Bridal hair started her wedding hair up and I think this is where Marie's nerves kicked in. She became a little quiet and very hot, luckily the hotel had a spare fan so we could keep Marie cool as I was using my paperwork of the wedding as a fan and my arm was about to drop off.
As I had finished her makeup for now and Gemma was still doing her hair I slipped off to have another peak at the reception room with my camera.

Disney Wedding Cake
The first thing that caught my eye was Marie's beautiful cake baked by her friend which had Minnie and Mickey as a cake topper. Marie had this shipped in from the Disney Store in America. The cake was beautiful and had a delicate sweetheart bow to the back.

Back of the wedding cake

The room at the time looked stunning and very elegant and was still in the process of being dressed by Little Kings and Queens. The tables had candelabras decorated in Ivy and pretty Favor Boxes filled with a cupcake.

Wedding favors

I noticed in the corner of the room a very tempting sweetie cart which was for the evening reception, I took a photo of it and moved away before I sneaked a sweet lol..

Sweetie cart

To the side of the top table was a very important table which had the beautiful photo of Marie's mom who sadly passed away suddenly last year. The table had a very fitting quote saying "Mum, we know you would be here today if heaven weren't so far away" and a beautiful little spray of the wedding flowers. I thought that was such a thoughtful thing to do and very fitting as I know how close Marie was to her Mum.

Marie's Mum

I headed back to help Marie into her dress and couldn't wait to tell her how beautiful her room was.
Gemma and myself helped Marie into her  Mark Lesley wedding dress which she had off the Internet from China. I nearly fell to the floor when she said the bridesmaid dresses were from China too. They were Cadbury purple and were super vibrant.

Bride and bridesmaids

Marie had 3 bridesmaids: Keira, Kelly (John's sister) and Marie's very dear friend Rachel. Marie and John also had 3 flower girls: Emily and Katie (Marie's god daughters) and Sophie (John's niece). So as you can imagine the hotel room got a little busy.
The flowers were so pretty and were made up of white roses and Caller lilies wrapped up in matching purple satin ribbon.

The wedding registrar came to the room to do the necessary legalities and I packed up my kit, by which time Marie was ready to go up to the ceremony room. Everyone was told which order they had to go into the  room and stood ready and waiting with a few giggles and last minute nerves and I was lucky enough to get to video Marie entering the room.
