Helen Knox

Somerford Hall, Brewood

13 June 2015

I've looked forward to this wedding for over a year now as Helen used to be my hair dresser at Edens Hair salon in Heath Hayes

Helen got married to Malc at Somerford Hall in Brewood. Somerford Hall is an enchanting Georgian mansion set amidst extensive landscaped gardens, providing a true sense of occasion for your wedding celebrations. The wedding theme was elegant yet quite traditional with the colour scheme being cobalt blue.

The couple met at the zoo where they went for the day with friends and embarrassingly Helen ended up falling over and Malc was the one that rushed to help her up. Helen said they still laugh about it now and Malc even mentioned this on the wedding day in his speech.

On the wedding day I arrived super early at this gorgeous venue to do the wedding makeup of Helen and all her bridal party, and it was such a joy as a lot of them were girls I knew from the Salon. They were all dressed in matching blue silk dressing gowns except for Helen's which was white.

When I arrived a very talented Helen from Eden in Heath Hayes (who did my wedding hair 8 yrs ago) had already made a start blow drying and styling the girls hair, Helen's dad was sat in the lounge area looking overwhelmed by the amount of females in the room haha.
Champagne and cups of tea were flowing nicely too.

I set myself up and made a start on the bridesmaids' makeup.

I did the makeup of Helen's sister Louise first who was quite relaxed and happy about whichever makeup look I gave her. I used a beautiful shimmer taupe colour on her eyes and a natural pink lipstick. Louise had amazing cheeks so used a gorgeous pink to show them off even more.

Next I did the makeup of Helen's mom who like the other girls didn't wear much makeup. She was wearing a blue suit with a fascinator so I decided to add a bit of colour to her makeup and gave her blue eyelids to compliment her brown eyes. I diluted the foundation with a moisturiser to give a more natural coverage. For her lips I kept it neutral again and used a beautiful Estée Lauder tinted lip gloss

Helen the bride was next who was very conscious of her skin as she experiences rosacea to her cheeks (redness). Helen also wanted a natural bridal look and didn't want to be caked in makeup, on the day Helen was over the moon with how flawless her skin looked when I finished. For Helen's eyes I went with a cream and light natural brown eye shadow and lined the eyes lightly with gel eyeliner. I used a natural peachy lipstick with a peachy blusher to compliment her spray tan.

It was lovely seeing Helen after a couple of years, we had a good catch up on a lot of things including her amazing holidays abroad to Dubai and particularly her Hen celebrations when she went to Los Angeles and Vegas for the week and had a day in London with all the girls from work and a family meal.

I did the makeup of Jodie next who was super beautiful. I did Jodie's makeup on the trial too as I was told Jodie is super fussy, but luckily for me she loved the makeup I did so was hired for today.

Jodie loves makeup and so I decided to give her a sparkling healthy English rose look, with the most amazing bright coloured lipstick from MAC called Moronge. The combo totally worked and she looked amazing.

It was lovely seeing Jodie too as I knew her from the hairdressers. I enjoyed hearing about the hen weekend, particularly the bit where Jodie met someone on the plane and ended up dating him.

Helen's last bridesmaid to have her makeup done was Liz her sister in law. Liz  doesn't normally wear much makeup so I used the same sort of colours on her too. She was conscious of her skin blemishes so of course I gave her a natural but flawless look. She looked amazing.

After finishing everybody's makeup we made our way over to the main building where everyone was to get dressed.

Not long after we got into the bridal suite the wedding flowers of blue begonias and white roses were delivered by Lynn from Fine Flowers in Rugeley. They matched the colour of the bridesmaids' dresses perfectly which were a gorgeous royal blue with one strap over the shoulder, purchased from White Rose Bridal in Rugeley.

We were joined by the photographer Steve Ford Photography who started taking his photos of the bridesmaids in their dressing gowns and then took photos of the dresses and flowers in the room.

We were doing really well for time and then the time came that the bridesmaids needed to get dressed. As each bridesmaid came into the main room dressed I started topping up everybody's lipstick as everyone had been eating and drinking lots of lovely champagne.

Afterwards Helen went off into the dressing room to put her wedding dress on with her bridesmaids, where I heard lots of giggles. I went in to see Helen and she looked amazing. Helen also had her wedding dress from White Rose Bridal in Rugeley. And it was a perfect choice. She looked like a princess, so beautiful, the dress really suited her.

The bridesmaids were brilliant and very hands on helping Helen get ready she's lucky she was surrounded by hairdressers as she then needed her veil put in, while another bridesmaid used Vaseline to line all the shoes to prevent the shoes from rubbing. Everything was covered and organised.

The registrars came to do the interview with Helen and then she was ready to go down and get married. She looked so happy and excited, I felt privileged that she asked me as I'd known her for over 10 years. The venue's wedding coordinator came and collected the bridal party and took them downstairs. I followed taking a few of my own snaps and videos and noticed a big white post box and a picture frame with hearts where you can write your name on.

Becky Appleton

The Chase Golf Club, Cannock

6 June 2015

Today I did the wedding makeup of the lovely Becky and her bridal party. I had such a lovely morning and feel like I've made a friend for life.

I first met Becky on her makeup trial 6 weeks earlier where we all had such a giggle and put the world to right.

Becky a community healthcare worker and Andy a instrumental case maker met 11 years ago on the internet and got engaged 2 years ago.

Becky and Andy got married in front of all their friends and family at St Agustines church in Rugeley followed by a reception at The Chase Golf Club in Cannock.

The theme of the wedding was traditional and elegant with Burgundy/ Red as the colour scheme.

I arrived very early to start the makeup as I had 6 people to do so after having a nice cuppa and setting up I made a start.

Laura Ridley arrived a few minutes later to do the wedding hair of Becky and 3 bridesmaids and Gemma Neville from Dream Bridal hair arrived a little later to do the hair of the flower girl and another bridesmaid.

Becky had 4 bridesmaids- Jennie, Julie, Amelia, Lucy and her maid of honour Jenny.

All the bridesmaids had very pale skin and we all agreed that a nice classic red matte lip and a soft smokey eye would look great with the bridesmaid dresses, so I used my favourite red lipstick from MAC called 'lady danger'

Whist doing the last bridesmaid's make up the flowers, made by Lynne from Fine flowers, were delivered which were gorgeous Ivory and burgundy red roses.

After finishing the bridesmaids' makeup I did Becky's mom, she didn't wear much and I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable so went with a minimal natural look with lipgloss.

I then did Becky's makeup who had a natural but glamorous look for her wedding. Becky experiences dry skin so used mainly cream products for her face. In today's makeup look I used a lot of Makeup Geek, MAC, and Illamasqua products.

Becky looked amazing and was over the moon with her makeup and just in time as we were then joined by the photographers Keith and Jose from JK - Images.

Becky was getting nervous about the wedding and wanted everything to be perfect but with a lot of reassurance from everyone she relaxed a little, Becky was in good hands.

A little while later the bridesmaids slowly came downstairs after putting their dresses on which were purchased from Design Elegance. They were beautiful red dresses with one strap and rose designers.
The photographer then took them off to be photographed in the garden.

I was asked at the makeup trial if I would put the wedding dress on Becky and of course I said YES.
After needing a little help from Gemma and Laura the wedding dress was on.

The dress was absolutely beautiful and Becky looked just like a princess.
After a bit of a panic as we couldn't find her jewellery, Becky was ready to go downstairs and see her dad. I went downstairs to then realise the bridesmaids had already gone to the church.

I managed to run downstairs and get my camera rolling for when Becky came down. Her dad was so proud and you could see it in his eyes when he looked at her coming down the stairs. They had a little cuddle and I then made sure Becky was ready to go. I topped up her lipstick then packed my makeup up and headed outside to put my bags in the car.

The street where Becky had grown up had all her neighbours outside watching and waiting for her appearance, and she didn't disappoint. She sparkled like a true princess as she came out her house, she looked so beautiful.

Becky was driven to the church by Paul in a beautiful Austin Princess Vanden Plas Limousine by Platinum Cars

It was so nice doing the wedding makeup of Becky as we really hit it off and had a lot of personality similarities. I loved looking through Becky's wedding photos, I especially liked her 4 tired wedding cake from Kate-Kookerburra cakes

Kerrie Benton

The Barns, Cannock

4 June 2015

It was the wedding morning of Kerrie who married Pete at The Barns, in Cannock which is a restored 18th century farmhouse on the edge of Cannock Chase.

Kerrie met Pete at work and have 4 children between them. Pete is a site supervisor and Kerrie is currently a full time mom.

Kerrie and Pete's colour scheme was blushed pink and mint green. So we decided on Kerrie's makeup trial to loosely go with those colour's in the makeup too but still looking natural as Kerrie doesn't normally wear much makeup.

When I arrived at Kerrie's parent's house on the wedding morning, Kerrie was quite nervous understandably.

I was greeted in there by Lottie, Kerrie's Maid of Honour, and her friend Sarah, the official photographer for the day.

I did Lotty the chief bridesmaid's makeup first and incorporated a soft smoky pearlesant pink into her eye shadow with a peachy lip colour.

Lotty doesn't usually wear much makeup so I did keep this to a minimum which she was happy with.
After a little brew break and Bucks Fizz I did the wedding makeup of Kerrie.

This was where Kerrie could sit down, unwind and relax and enjoy a bit of pampering. I was assisted by Kerrie's beautiful Daughter who was bursting with excitement about the day. She had just had her hair done and kept coming up to me to show me her flower headband.

I recreated the makeup I did for Kerrie's makeup trial as she found it perfect. I used mainly natural earth colours to complement her skin tone and hair colour but keeping it natural enough for her to be comfortable with.

Kerrie had already had her hair done by Yvonne Wiggin So all that was left to do was for her to get her dress on.
While Kerrie was getting dressed I stayed downstairs and helped to look after her daughter who had great joy in showing off her bridesmaid dress and flower headband.  The first to come downstairs was Lottie who looked beautiful in her dusty pink satin dress. Lottie was amazing at doing hair so did her own in a fish tale side plait.

Kerrie's flowers were delivered and supplied by her best friend Anna Hall and were gorgeous pink and white roses.

Kerrie's mom came downstairs and got everyone ready for Kerrie's entrance. Her dad was waiting downstairs and looked so proud when he saw her. Everyone had a photo with Kerrie and before long it was time to go to the church.  She looked so beautiful in her dress which she had purchased from Formal Elegance, in Cannock.

Kerrie was very lucky that she could arrive in style to the church as her parents own and run  His and Hers Wedding Cars Car company.

Before long Kerrie and the bridal party were ready for the off so I topped up their lipstick and wished them good luck for the day.

Here is a little video of Kerrie leaving her parents house to go and get married. Please click on the video to view.

Thank you for choosing me to do your wedding makeup. It was lovely meeting you. I wish you and your family a happy future and look forward to seeing your wedding photos soon x x
