Make-up as important as wedding dress

People often comment about the cost of bridal make-up. I explain that they’re paying for a luxury, on location service where the make-up artist has transported numerous make-up cases and equipment directly to the bridal location at a date and time to suit the client. This allows the bride-to-be to relax and enjoy their special day without having to travel between multiple locations.

An experienced make-up artist has multiple positive reviews on their website and social media, plus good photos of happy brides they have worked with. An experienced make-up artist will have contracts in place to protect you and to protect them. This prevents them from cancelling on you at the last minute. I’ve had so many brides message me the night before their wedding in a panic because they’ve fallen out with a friend who was going to do their make-up, or a cheaper make-up artist they booked has taken on a bigger job.

Experienced make-up artists are also continually updating and perfecting their skills by going on training courses. An experienced make-up artist will understand your vision of how you want to look on your special day and you will have confidence and peace of mind that you’re going to look amazing. It takes a lot of time to advise brides via email, phone or social media, as well as to devise a schedule of the morning for them so that it runs smoothly and without stress and worry. It also takes a lot of time to clean the make-up kit after each wedding and ensure it is kept in proper sanitary conditions in accordance with our industry guidelines.
A professional make-up kit costs thousands of pounds, and that’s even with professional discounts applied. You are paying for luxury, so you should be getting luxury products as well as the cost of disposables such as cotton buds, tissues, mascara wands, make-up sponges and false eyelashes.

A professional make-up artist will have a lot of overheads like insurance, product costs, advertising, the cost of their website, car insurance and tax. An experienced make-up artist will keep a file on the bride-to be, including information from phone conversations, emails, photos and key information such as addresses, times and schedules. Weddings are a huge expense and cost thousands of pounds for the venue, photographer, dress, shoes and so on. It’s important to book an experienced make-up artist that can see your vision too as your make-up look will be seen on every photo. Your face and make-up is as much an investment as your perfect dress or venue. I hope I’ve answered why experienced make-up artists cost so much, but please do your research by asking for recommendations from friends, following your favourite make-up artist, checking their reviews and looking at their photos as your wedding day is an investment in you.

Sandon Hall, Staffordshire

1st May 2017

Congratulations to Tors who married Ashley at a beautiful ceremony at Sandon Hall on Friday.
I did the wedding makeup of Tors and her bridal party and was working alongside their hair stylist Hannah from John Belfield International.

Tors looked absolutely stunning in her strapless satin ball gown with beaded waist which was designed by Veromia Bridalwear and purchased at Adele Louise Bridal Limited and beautiful satin Ted Baker shoes.

We were joined during the morning by the fabulous Stephen Sutton Photography and i'm already stalking his page to see some fabulous cheeky photographs.

It was fantastic to work with such a fabulous team again. The florist was Parsley and Sage

Florist Stoke and the bouquets were made up with White gerbera and daisies, the cake maker was Hayley from Jasmine Bakery who made a beautiful four tier white cake with strawberries dipped in chocolate cascading down the side and the venue was decorated to perfection by Design Elegance - Venue Styling.

Thank you so much for booking me to do your wedding makeup.

Emma Blade

I arrived at the house to see a excited Emma and her mom looking out the window for me dying to get their makeup done by me. Emma booked me to do the wedding makeup of her and her mom. I was warmly welcomed by a excited Emma who has been dreaming of this day for all her life. Emma and Simon have been planning their wedding for 18 Months.

Emma loved her makeup and wanted a more heavier natural makeup look for her wedding, she had beautiful eyes so I made sure they stood out and looked amazing!

Emma married Simon in a beautiful church ceremony at St Andrew's Church followed by a reception at Weston Hall.

Emma wore a elegant lace Justin Alexander gown which she purchased from Evelyn Rose Bridal and Prom and teamed it with holographic Irregular Choice shoes.

Because of Emma's allergies she chose to have origami flowers which were absolutely stunning, she purchased these from Powell's Petals.

To capture the whole day Emma and Simon had superstar photographer Stephen Sutton.

Wow you looked like a princess and cant thank you enough for having me as your makeup artist today.

Phillipa Hayden

Packington Moor - Wedding Venue in Staffordshire

10th April 2017

Photo taken by Natasha - New Era Photography
I did the wedding makeup of Philippa and her bridal party on Saturday at the stunning Packington Moor - Wedding Venue in Staffordshire.

I went to school with Phillipa and her bridesmaids so it was lovely to have a nice catch up and be privileged enough to be with her on the morning of her wedding. I did the makeup of her bridesmaids Rachel, becky (who I also went to school with) and her sister in law.

Philippa and the girls went to her local salon to have her hair put up, and I (of course) did the makeup. We started the makeup early morning at Philippa's home then moved onto Packington Moor afterwards for all the final touches.
Phillipa and the girls don't wear much makeup so wanted a natural but done look which looked fab on photos.

Phillipa received a lovely cards and presents from her bridesmaids and the groom Jon. Phillipa had a album made up of photos of the hen party. Rachel was unofficial photographer for the first part of the morning till we was at Packington Moor where the photographer will be and took some cracking shots and even staged a few.

During the morning we were joined by Natasha from Photography By Natasha- New Era, who went off like a whirlwind taking photos of Phillipa's dress, shoes and accessories she was wearing that day. I've worked with Natasha on quite a few weddings and her photos are stunning, the ones I've already seen are fantastic, Phillipa wont be disappointed! Phillipa has such a fun personality that Natasha managed to get some awesome photos.

Phillipa wore a beautiful Alfred Angelo Bridal Gown and carried pretty flowers from Flower Design of Lichfield. When Phillipa walked down the stairs and into the lounge area everyone took a gasp at how beautiful she looked.

We all had a few manic minutes where I did everyone's touch ups, the Posecco was knocked back before the bridal party was asked to go and see the registrars for the pre-wedding meeting.

It was such a pleasure to do the makeup of any of my brides but when its a old school friend it was very special.

Thank you for asking me to do your wedding makeup, you all looked beautiful, Congratulations x x x
