Nicola Pass

27/3/2015

It was the wedding of one of my old school friend Nicola and her fiancĂ© Richard today.
Nicola and Richard had their wedding reception at The Wroxeter Hotel in Shropshire which is set in beautiful countryside halfway between Telford and Shrewsbury. Their theme was elegant and traditional for a civil ceremony with the main colour theme being red.

Gemma, from Dream Bridal Hair and myself arrived bright and early to the stunning Bramble Cottage (Mytton and Mermaid Hotel) where Nicola and her bridal party were getting ready.I had a lovely cup of tea made by Sophie, the maid of honor and then got started straight away.

Nicola had three bridesmaids; her best friend Sophie, Ellie her sister in law and Suzanne, her future sister in law all had makeup as well as her mom Jean. Gemma did the the hair and we worked like a conveyor belt, the bride and bridesmaids had their hair put up while Jean had her hair down in soft curls.

I did the makeup of Suzanne first who doesn't wear much makeup so we went for the natural look. For the eyes I used the new MAC neutral / warm eye shadow palette and she had a soft shimmer smokey eye with Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner and plenty of my favorite mascara. Suzanne had a natural contour and blush all using MAC products as well as a beautiful glossy lipstick from MAC.

For the rest of the bridesmaids I carried on with the same style of makeup up just changing lipstick and foundation to suit their skin tone.
Jean, the mother of the bride, was wearing a mauve pink dress with a cream fascinater so decided to use those colours on her eyes too creating the smokey look which she loved. I used a lovely colour tattoo cream shadow by maybelline. All makeup was then set with my go to setting spray by Urban Decay

With Nicolas makeup I used my much loved Lorac Pro palette creating a smokey eye using the creams and Browns and Illamasqua skin base foundation with MAC's contour and rosy blush. This was a nice chance to catch up with Nicola too as I hadn't seen her for a few years.

Nicola now works as an accountant as does Richard. They met on a blind date through a mutual friend. When asked how he proposed she said he was very romantic and took her away for a spa break. It was their first night away since having their daughter Georgia and he proposed down on one knee.
Nicolas makeup was finished just in time as her photographer Tash, from New Era Photography arrived. (None of the professional photographs were used in this blog).

There was a bit of panic mid-morning as when I was doing the makeup of one of the bridesmaids she said she felt a bit light headed and asked if she could sit down on the sofa by the door and get some fresh air. As she sat down I was a little worried for her, I thought the stress of being head bridesmaid had got to her a little, her eye then rolled back into her head and she started to have a seizure. Luckily it only lasted for 30 seconds and she came round and said she thought she'd been asleep although felt a bit light headed and tingly. Ambulance was called and she reluctantly went to hospital after she didn't feel better for over an hour after. She was so disappointed she was going to miss her best friends wedding but she still wasn't well and needed to be properly checked out.

Nicola got into her dress while Sophie was being sorted by the paramedics and managed to see Nicola before she had to go.

Nicola looked stunning in her dress designed by Mori Lee and purchased from Kiss Bridal in Lichfield. The bridesmaids were in a light red / pink dress also from Kiss Bridal in Lichfield.
They all looked breathtakingly stunning and I mean stunning!!!

The wedding flowers were done by Jeanette Lake from Flower Design by Lichfield, they were gorgeous rich red roses, white and parrot tulips with lots of green foliage. The colours looked so vibrant against Nicolas white dress!

Understandably Nicola was running late so rang the hotel where the wedding was going to be to inform the groom of the situation and not worrying that she had jilted him at the altar.
I checked everybody's makeup, topped up their lipstick and managed to get a few photos of everyone before they had to leave.
Nicola left for her wedding in a 1934 Standard 10 vintage car with sun roof  from Hiring Miss Daisy.  I was like the proud mother when she drove off in the car with her dad.

I loved hearing about what Nicola and Richard had planned for their wedding reception as they've hired a photo booth from Lichfield inflatables and a sweet table supplied by the venue with popcorn served in usherette trays to guests after the hog roast in the evening. Their super wedding cake was supplied by Galaxy Cakes in Bridgetown, Cannock.

Nicola and Rich are Having two 'family' moons as Georgia will be going with them. They will be Staying at luxury 5 star lodge in Cornwall for a week (with own hot tub, spa facilities view of the sea and champagne on ice!) in May. Then off for a week in Spain in October.

Thank you so much Nicola for my Chocolates. It was very very kind of you x ❤️ x

I enjoyed seeing you again and catching up with you and especially being with you on one of the most important days of your life. Thank you x
